My Year In Music
It has been a looong year and I think a lot of us can agree that while music has always been a fixture in our lives, it’s become even more important during these difficult times.
For a little while I put off looking at my Spotify Wrapped and top song playlists thinking they would bring me back to some tough moments, but surprisingly when I look over all of these songs, I have a happy memory for a vast majority of them. Pre-COVID drives with friends, quarantine bike rides through the neighborhood, sunset walks with my dad, midmornings spent experimenting in the kitchen, and afternoons dancing in the backyard all come flooding back when I think of Victoria Monét, Raveena, Lianne La Havas, and Pip Millett. Even the days where I simply had more time to enjoy the little things like styling my hair and doing laundry are set to the tunes of Alice Smith and K I R B Y.
